OPEN CALL: Bergen Fringe Festival 2027
Bergen Fringe Festival – a celebration of artistic freedom and interdisciplinary experimentation – returns for its eighth edition from September 2nd to 5th, 2027.
We are now inviting artists, companies, musicians, and creative performers to apply for a spot in our 2027 program.
As Norway’s oldest Fringe festival, we serve as a hub where performing arts, music, visual arts, and literature unite. We are a place where the professional meets the experimental, and the path from idea to stage is short.
In 2027, we are celebrating COMMUNITY. We’re looking for bold projects that jump off the stage, break down the barriers, toss out the rulebook, and bring everyone together in the heat of the moment.
Deadline for submitting an application is June 15th 2026.
We are looking for projects in five categories:

Fringe Junior: Child and youth groups from Bergen and the surrounding area.

Amateur Theatre: Groups from Bergen and the surrounding area.

Regional Professionals: Professional practitioners residing in Bergen and the surrounding area.

National Professionals: Innovative productions from across Norway.

International Professionals: Professional productions from the international independent performing arts field.
What do we offer?

A professional venue: Performance space at Cornerteateret or in the surrounding urban space, including technical arrangements and practical support within the festival framework.

Workshops: Access to exclusive courses, masterclasses, and professional talks designed to strengthen your career and network.

International Platform: Opportunities for distribution and networking with festivals in the Nordic-Baltic Fringe Network (BNFN).

Visibility: Marketing through our channels and urban space campaigns.

Financial terms: To be agreed upon individually between the festival and the performers.
What are we looking for?
When selecting acts and projects, we focus on concept, innovation, originality, and feasibility. We particularly encourage projects that reflect diversity, explore interdisciplinarity, or utilize the stage in unexpected ways.
